The second meeting of the Eurocup FR 2.0 in Monaco was eagerly awaited by all of the young drivers. One race was on the programme - but what a race! - in the streets of the principality at the opening of the F1 Grand Prix. Unfortunately, the rain and many incidents greatly shortened the outing for the 2 litre Formula Renaults. After a magnificent overtake that opened the way to the race leaders, Dorian Boccolacci didn't hold his 3rd place for long due to a red flag that interrupted the race.

"At the time, the disappointment was very strong," confided the Tech 1 Racing driver. "Because of the red flag, the finishing order was that of the previous lap and I lost the benefit of my attack on Max Defourny that put me on the podium. But the most unfortunate thing is that I was very comfortable in the car in the rain and I didn't intend to stop there. I am convinced I had a good card to play in Monaco, and I do not like to miss such opportunities, although there was nothing I could do. That said I am not dissatisfied with my pure performance in difficult conditions. I'm on the pace this season, which is important. There will be other races to win and I am more motivated than ever with Tech 1 Racing."

Admittedly eight laps and four under the safety car, is very little for such an important meeting. With flying laps, only three counted for the result, so frustration is understandable. Dorian was still able to draw some new lessons from this experience. "Since the beginning of the season, qualifying has not gone as well as I have hoped. This prevents me from fighting for victory more often. This time, we may have found a solution. We will see in the next race."

The ranking of the Eurocup after Monaco has not changed, with only half points being awarded. Dorian remains 4th for now, but the season is just beginning. In the NEC, in contrast, he is in 1st place with a bigger lead after Silverstone. The competition will resume at the weekend of 18th and 19th June for the third round at the Hungaroring near Budapest.
