Leaving aside superstitions, it must be said that a victory at the beginning of the season definitely boosts the morale of a driver and his team. This is why Dorian Boccolacci's first place in KF at the opening round of the WSK Master Series at La Conca is important. The chemistry between the young rookie and his new team, Energy Corse, has not taken long to emerge. In fact, Dorian has immediately convinced specialists and thrilled the public with his more than positive performances and that touch of boldness that often accompanies great champions' careers.

The series of chances undergone by Dorian gave reason to believe that it would be a "learning weekend" for him at La Conca. A new chassis brand, a new team, a new category, a new engine homologation: normally all these elements do not favour great performances. On his debut behind the wheel of his Energy/TM in KF, the category of expert drivers, the Lotus F1 Junior Team driver had not had the opportunity to train for long before his first competition. Of course, collective tests organised at La Conca, a week before the opening meeting, had revealed his excellent competitiveness, though his performances in race conditions were still to be confirmed considering the group of fierce rivals he had to face.

Dorian took the lead of the standings already in timed qualifying by taking pole position ahead of about 50 drivers. He showed all his speed by ranking second in the Superpole. He was only preceded by the French driver Armand Convers, who has over 10 years of experience at the top of this category. Dorian showed his first brilliant performance during the first qualifying heat, with a textbook braking manoeuvre that enabled him to pass Convers on the last lap. He then took a series of second places up to the pre-final and continued to perfect the set-up of his kart while also fighting for victory.

In the final he was rewarded for his efforts, though his opponents made his life hard as far as pure speed is concerned. But it was there that Dorian's talent and boldness made the difference thanks to his admirable perseverance: indeed, the young driver from the Var region never gives up. "I started from the first line on the outside, which is not an advantage", he explained after the race. "After the start I was third and I succeeded in taking the lead on the third lap. But Basz and Convers closed the gap on me and passed me before mid-race. I did my best not to lose too much ground. I took advantage of Basz' retirement with two laps to go to take the lead again, but I had to resist Convers' attacks. I was determined to win and when he tried to pass me on the first bend, I did not let him to. We touched, but I kept the first place for just 28 thousands/sec. I was sorry that Armand had ill interpreted my manoeuvre and this is why I did not celebrate my result right away".

Later, Dorian analysed the importance of his performance: "The season has started well, not like last year... My Energy chassis works perfectly, the TM engine, prepared by GFR, is already very good and I feel great in my new team. I am happy that things are going well between Luigina and Simone, the technicians who are following me, and Energy Corse. But we will have to keep working hard, because very soon there will be an important event at Lonato: the Winter Cup".
